Music Ministry

When we gather together to pray and sing, Christ is revealed to us and community is formed. This singing is so important, it is not limited to one group, but includes us all. Our music ministers help us grow in our sung prayer and help unify us as we sing the words of our faith. For special feasts and celebrations, we join together to form one choir with many voices and instruments.

9:00 a.m. Mass
The choir at 9:00 mass incorporates a broad range of musical styles and instruments, and sings full harmony for special pieces. It isn’t a requirement that you read music to join this group. If you can sing or play an instrument, you are welcome! Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 p.m. in the church. The primary contact for this choir is Faerie Pabich in the parish office.

11:00 a.m. Mass
The choir at 11:00 mass blends a variety of musical instruments and voices in a more contemporary style. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the church. The primary contact for this choir is Shelly Letendre at 694-0770.

1:00 p.m. Mass
The Hispanic choir leads the singing for our 1:00 Spanish mass. Many instruments and voices join to celebrate our faith! Anyone who can sing or play an instrument is welcome to join. This choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. and noon Sundays in the Assembly Room. The primary contact for this choir is Fr. Manuel Perez at the parish office.

Cantors
Cantors play a special role in leading the assembly and proclaiming the psalms. We utilize cantors at all our masses, and being a cantor requires excellent singing ability, strong music reading and interpretation, and extra preparation for your ministry. If you would like to learn more about serving as a cantor in our parish, contact Faerie Pabich in the parish office.

By serving as a Music Minster at Sacred Heart, you have the opportunity to be enriched in a special way, and to sing and pray in a group that works hard and has fun. You will be richly blessed!
