Dear Cathedral Parish Family,

Through the generosity of the Sefton Family, we have been able to complete the building of the second half of our beautiful pipe organ. This fall, Hickory Construction has been preparing the choir loft to receive the completion of the pipe organ. Beginning January 15th, the installation will begin. Casavant Freres, our distinguished organ company from Montreal, will build a platform in the choir loft on January 15th. For the following four weeks, organ installation will be in process. Please find below an artistic rendering of the completed installation.

** Beginning January 15th through Friday, February 16th (Open on Ash Wednesday, Open at 5:30 pm on 2/16 for Stations of the Cross), the Cathedral will close after Masses on Sunday and stay closed until 11:00 am the following Saturday. The 8:05 am daily Mass M-F will be celebrated in the SHCS cafeteria, and the noon Mass will be celebrated in the Shea Room in the Cathedral parish office. Confessions on Wednesday evenings (5:30 pm-6:30 pm) will occur in the 200 wing of Sacred Heart Cathedral School. On Saturdays, the Daily Mass at 8:05 am will be celebrated in the Shea Room, followed by Confessions (8:45 am-9:45 am) in the priest’s offices. Exposition, Adoration, and Benediction will NOT take place in the Cathedral on Wednesday, January 17th, 24th, 31st, and February 7th during this time, but the Divine Mercy Adoration Chapel will remain open. Additionally, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be in the Adoration Chapel every Friday at 3:00 pm.

We know this work may be inconvenient, and we appreciate your cooperation and prayers. Please know that while these are the planned dates when we will need to accommodate the organ installation project, there is always a chance with construction that dates and timelines may change. In the event of any changes, we will communicate as soon as possible.

Many heartfelt thanks for the generosity of the Sefton Family. Their beautiful gift has fully funded the completion of our organ without expense to the Cathedral. What a tremendous Christmas gift to our entire community.

Please keep the Cathedral, the team from Hickory Construction, and the members of Casavant Freres in your prayers.

In Christ,

Very Reverend David A. Boettner
Rector, Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
