On Sunday, October 2nd, Sacred Heart Cathedral hosted a “Blue Mass” to recognize law enforcement, firefighters, and first responder rescue crews. With its beginnings traced back to 1928, the “Blue Mass’ is a time honored tradition. With over 450 in attendance, Bishop Stika gave a homily that brought many to tears.
The “Blue Mass” is a way of saying thank you to these loyal and selfless servants who through their sacrifice and courage protect us on a daily basis. In many cases, those who protect us, are running in somewhere, where most are running away. Parishioners gave civil servants in attendance, a standing ovation at the end of Bishop Stika’s homily.
This Sunday, October 9th, Sacred Heart Cathedral will host a “Red Mass” to celebrate judiciary, legal, and law profession. Mass begins at 11am, please come join us.
