Dear Cathedral Parish Family,

We are delighted to welcome Christian Ratterman as the new Director of  Evangelization, Youth and Young Adult Ministry at the Cathedral. Christian brings a deep love for the Church, a vibrant spirit, and a passion for building community rooted in faith.

Originally from Nashville, TN, Christian grew up in a close-knit Catholic family and attended Catholic schools throughout his formative years—St. Matthew School and Father Ryan High School. He is a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he earned a degree in Finance and an Honors Leadership Minor. Go Vols!

Christian’s enthusiasm for ministry was nurtured through his volunteer work at Summit and the St. John XXIII Catholic Center during college, where he formed lasting relationships and discovered his calling to serve others. Additionally, he served as President of his Christian Fraternity, Beta Upsilon Chi, while attending UT. A self-described extrovert, he finds joy in connecting with people, exploring parks, and driving with the windows down. Since moving to Knoxville this summer, he’s fallen in love with the scenic beauty of East Tennessee—especially Lakeshore Park and the breathtaking views of the mountains.

Above all, Christian is deeply moved by the spiritual beauty of the Cathedral and feels honored to serve this community. He asks for your prayers as he begins this journey and promises to keep each of you in his own.

Please join us in giving Christian a heartfelt welcome, where his first day will be September 24th! We’re excited to see how the Lord will work through him in this new chapter!

With gratitude and prayers,

Father David

WELCOME, CHRISTIAN!

Hello everyone! My name is Christian Ratterman, and I am extremely humbled and thrilled to be serving as the next Director of Evangelization, Youth and Young Adult Ministry here at the Cathedral.

I wanted to introduce myself to you! I grew up in a Catholic family of 4, with my parents, Woody and Becky, my sister, Anna, and our dog, Charlie. My sister and I were blessed to attend Catholic schools all the way through high school in Nashville, TN, starting at St. Matthew School before attending Father Ryan High School. We are huge fans of the University of Tennessee, as it is my alma mater, where I graduated with a degree in Finance and an Honors Leadership Minor. It’s also where my sister is finishing her nursing degree!

While attending UT, I served as President for my Christian Fraternity, Beta Upsilon Chi, and was very involved at the St. John XXIII Catholic Center. I’m a huge extrovert, and have loved my time volunteering at Summit throughout college. I have a love of cars and driving with the windows down, people, and parks! I permanently moved to Knoxville this summer and have loved being in East Tennessee. It’s so scenic, and I especially love Lakeshore Park and the views of the mountains. However, I don’t think any of the views beat the beauty of the altar in the Cathedral! I’m so blessed to be here, and I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for this community.

Please be praying for me and for those whom I get the opportunity to serve. I will be praying for you all! I can’t wait to meet everyone!
